Juanyeh Thomas

Walton and Niceville High School standout Juanyeh Thomas continues to make his presence known on the gridiron at Georgia Tech. This three-time high school All-State football player, who set a high school national record as a sophomore when he returned interceptions for touchdowns in five consecutive games, is a mainstay on the formidable Georgia Tech defense and special teams.

As a freshman, he was named Freshman All-American and 1st Team All-ACC as a kick returner. He scored three non-offensive touchdowns — one a 95-yard interception and two kickoff returns of 77 and 100 yards. He set five school records for kickoff returns. He was Georgia Tech’s leading tackler on special teams with 12.

As a sophomore he moved to safety, appearing in 12 games and starting in 11. For the season, he finished second among defensive backs and fourth overall on the team with 60 tackles, including 40 solo tackles. He registered his first collegiate interception against Pitt.

This past season, he started every game at safety and led the Yellow Jackets’ defensive backs
in tackles. He added another interception against the University of Central Florida. In recognition of his outstanding collegiate career, Thomas was invited to play in the 2022 Hula Bowl College All-Star game.
