Richie Grant – 2022 Professional Award Winner

Richie Grant

The All Sports Association proudly welcomes professional football player Richie Grant as our 2022 Professional Award winner. Grant played high school football at Choctaw, where he was an outstanding defensive back. Grant then spent four seasons at the University of Central Florida (UCF). He is now a member of the Atlanta Falcons, after being selected with the 40th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Grant finished his college career at UCF with 291 tackles, 10 interceptions, and five forced fumbles. He was first-team All-American Athletic Conference for three consecutive years (2018-2020). At the Reese’s Senior Bowl, Grant was named the top safety of the American team by fellow prospects. Grant was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, given to the best defensive back in college football.

Grant is doing well in his rookie season with the Falcons. Through week 17, Grant had played in 15 games and recorded 23 solo tackles.

Greg Thomas, Grant’s coach at Choctaw, remembers the 6’0, 200-pound safety for his determination. “As a high school player he never wanted to come off the field. His work ethic was unbelievable.”

Thomas is confident Grant will be a mainstay in the NFL due to his most vital trait: his character. “He is a great person, great character, great work ethic and great integrity. Congratulations Richie — we’re proud of you!
