lydia-turner headshotLydia has a deep passion for service. She is an after school tutor for underprivileged children, and has served on four mission trips during high school. She loves “Serve-a-lution” — a day when every Rocky student participates in community service yard work. After graduation, Lydia plans to continue her work with Team Effort, a mission organization that shares Christ’s love through construction and home improvement. Lydia’s faith is her cornerstone. At the end of her sophomore year, she was surprised and scared by a series of panic attacks, the worst of which caused her to pass out from lack of oxygen. She battled anxiety for months, until her focus turned to this scripture: “The Lord is my strength and my shield; in Him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to Him” (Psalm 28:7). God altered the direction of her life, and she is so grateful for the opportunity this award gives her to share her story with others.
